Quick Start and Operation
Torch & Consumables Care
Best Practices
-
Always use genuine Hypertherm consumables. Counterfeit nozzles and electrodes wear quickly and can damage the torch.
-
Rotate consumables as a set (electrode + nozzle). Don’t run them until they fail — replace before you start seeing bevel or arc instability.
-
Inspect nozzles: a good nozzle orifice is perfectly round. If it’s oval, replace it.
-
Check swirl rings for cracks, dirt, or moisture. A bad swirl ring causes inconsistent arc shape.
-
Pierce away from edges whenever possible to avoid blowback into the torch.
-
Keep consumables clean and dry — store them in sealed cases to avoid shop humidity.
Pro Tip
Keep a log of consumable changes (hours, pierces, materials). Patterns will emerge and help you predict life expectancy.
